Working late

On Tuesday I worked till 1 AM Wednesday. It was a bit much after a 3.5-day holiday weekend. I really like my employer, and love my colleagues, and enjoy my time with them, both on and off the clock.  Someone didn't think it out too well and scheduled the Wall-to-wall inventory for a holiday-shortened week, two holidays actually.  There seems to be a growing animosity, particularly amongst some salaried staff.

Today I got my last paystub of the year and am excited to report that I have received the most money from any one employer 100% 'on the books' in my many decades of employment. I know I worked a ridiculous amount of overtime in the late winter / early spring when my first shift colleague's baby came earlier than expected (praise the Lord they are both OK now), and I was covering for her and training two temps in addition to my own duties.

Money is a bit tight; I spent way too much on Christmas, had an automatic rent increase, and now am facing some car issues, in addition to having to spend more on heat as a regular part of Winter. If we work Saturday it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I don't want to work a full day on Sunday. I would like to go to the regular church worship service and also participate in the 11PM "Watch Night" via Zoom call.

Will finalize my New Year's resolutions over the next 48 hours.

God is good - all the time.
